Ему 25 лет, но КАК он поёт романс Рубинштейна "Клубится волною". Лишь талант и уникальный голос спасли его от отчисления, да и рекомендация Жукова , который услышал его на выпускном вечере школы ВВС. Его голос обладал редкой красотой и ровностью. Это было исполнительское искусство наивысшей формы и безупречной техники.Штоколов первым выступлением в Америке подтвердил свою репутацию истинного баса-кантанте. Ведь авторство этого романса приписывали Колчаку, который, по слухам, пел его перед смертью. В 20-е годы он был запрещен как белогвардейский, а его исполнение приравнивалось к антисоветской деятельности. "Звезда" самого Бориса Штоколова погасла внезапно - в ночь на Рождество 2005 года на 75-м году жизни. А он так мечтал отдать всего себя преподавательской деятельности, потому что делиться своим опытом, иметь свою школу стало смыслом его жизни. Им написано много о мастерстве вокала, искусстве голосоведения, так как считал, что кроме вокала надо вкладывать в исполнение ещё душу и сердце.
